Dera Alim

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dera is a postdoctoral scholar interested in cardiovascular research and global health science. She earned her Ph.D. in Physiology at UC Davis, after graduating from the illustrious Howard University where she received her B.Sc. in Biology. Her research interests surround the spatiotemporal regulation of CaMKII and its role in mechano-chemo-transduction. Her expertise includes super-resolution microscopy, confocal fluorescent imaging, Ca imaging, and project management. She also dabbles in the business of academia and administration across campus. Outside of work, Dera loves teaching music, watching K-drama, and creating choreography for Afro-beats.
