Jakub Tomek

Jakub obtained his DPhil at the University of Oxford, where he used a combination of wet lab experiments and computational simulations to study the contributors to arrhythmia after myocardial infarction. As a part of his Sir Henry Wellcome fellowship, awarded jointly between University of Oxford and UC Davis, he is set to investigate the mechanisms and causes of lethal arrhythmia in diabetes. Currently, he works on a mixture of projects involving single-cell FRET imaging of CaMKII function, development of image analysis techniques, and the development of a new computational model of a human ventricular myocyte.
