Melissa Corea

Junior Specialist

Melissa is a recent UC Davis graduate with a B.S. in Genetics and Genomics and a minor in Neuroscience. She previously worked in the Nord Lab at the UC Davis Center for Neuroscience, where she studied differential gene expression in mouse models of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her research experience includes genotyping, RNA isolation, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture work. Melissa is excited to join the Bers Lab to expand her skills in cardiovascular research and gain deeper insight into cellular mechanisms relevant to human health. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, focusing on neuropsychiatric disorders, and contribute to translational healthcare research. Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking, weightlifting, playing pool, and solving escape rooms with her friends.
