Renée A. Gorman
Graduate Student
Renée is a PhD Candidate under Dr. Peter Backx at York University (Toronto, Canada). Her research focuses on the fast transient outward potassium channels and their role in modulating cardiac excitation-contraction and ephaptic coupling. She previously received an Honors BSc in Biomedical Sciences and an MSc in Exercise Cardiology. Renée joins the Bers laboratory annually, and her skillset includes patch-clamp electrophysiology, electrocardiography, Langendorff isolated heart preparations, immunohistochemistry and confocal fluorescent imaging. Outside the lab, she enjoys travelling, soccer and watching murder mysteries.
