Victoria Salemme
Postdoctoral Scholar
Victoria is a postdoctoral scholar in the Bers Lab. Her research interests involve understanding how post-translational modifications of CaMKII affect its spatiotemporal activity and subcellular signaling in heart failure and arrhythmia. She earned her PhD from the MCIP Graduate Group at UC Davis, where her dissertation focused on the scaffold protein SAP97 and its involvement in calcium signaling in the heart. Victoria is a strong science policy advocate and has worked with both UC Davis and the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) to communicate with policymakers on how to support and expand cardiac research. Her expertise includes fluorescent imaging (FLIM, FRET, IF, and dSTORM), electrophysiology, and biochemical techniques such as western blotting. Outside of the lab, Victoria enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her cat.
